I think everyone knows by now how great hyaluronic acid is for plumping up the skin, fighting dehydration and minimising lines and wrinkles. But did you know that it also works deeper in the skin and in a longer-term manner by directly impacting the production of youth-fibres such as collagen and improving the quality of the skin progressively over time?
Hyaluronic acid works on every layer of the skin from superficial to deep in different ways. It can be introduced in to the upper layers of the epidermis via a serum such as our Hyaluronic+ Moisture Boost where it will bind water to itself to revitalise, plump and banish dehydration. This is a daily dose of hyaluronic acid and will be used up by the skin in approximately 24 hours so you must reapply daily.
Hyaluronic acid can also be implanted deeper into the skin structure to fill deeper lines via dermal fillers. These can be administered by injectable or needle-free methods and will last for a minimum of several months. This is a different type of HA, a cross-linked version, that takes much longer to break down. It fills the spaces between cells to cushion them and breaks bonds between the skin layers that flatten over time causing wrinkles on the surface.
This little video shows just how HA works under the skin to keep us all looking younger!
